Dr. William Bright graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and received his Doctorate of Medicine from Texas Tech University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
Following his internship, he spent eight years as an active-duty flight surgeon in the United State Air Force. He served as a Major and is a veteran of Operation Desert Shield, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After his military service, Dr. Bright completed his ophthalmology residency with Louisiana State University in New Orleans and developed a special interest in pediatric ophthalmology. During his residency, Dr. Bright conducted research on glaucoma surgery outcomes in a resident teaching setting under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Nussdorf.
Dr. Bright is excited to be coming home to Texas and establishing himself in the Lufkin community. He is related to some of the Bright family who are well known in Nacogdoches, Texas. He and his wife, Jill, are blessed with three children. They all enjoy the many outdoor activities East Texas has to offer, especially hunting and fishing.
